Window replacement

I wanted to write to let you know how fabulous our house looks with our new Pella windows and door. Our townhouse was built in 1865, and we wanted to get back the historic look; so we chose the double hung wooden windows with the aluminum clad exterior, with six panes over one.

George Gateau and Jack Kalinoski arrived bright and early on the appointed day, and began taking out the old windows. They had the new windows in, plumbed and shimmed in short order. Then they removed the old door -- DISASTER!!

When the former owner was rehabbing the house, he used the frame that the old door came in and simply nailed it to the circa 1865 brick! The old brick had crumbled, and you could put your arm into the old walls to a depth of 18 inches! Mr. Gateau and Mr. Kalinoski had to build framework inside of the old walls to hold up the front of the house, then build an entire frame to attach to that. Finally they attached our beautiful new door to the new solid framework. Thank God we had these two craftsmen working for us! If someone with less experience were faced with such a huge problem, I'm afraid the front of our house would have collapsed.

The "finish work" they did really makes our house look fantastic. Pella has developed a type of aluminum cladding that isn't shiny, and unless you touch it, the exterior looks like wood. Again, those two geniuses, Gateau and Kalinoski, did a wonderful job, and we can't thank them enough. Our neighbors keep stopping by, complimenting our new look and saying what a difference it makes!

The Pella experience was a good one from the day I emailed Brian Flavin (our sales rep). We met him at the showroom and were able to select the windows and door we wanted in less than 30 minutes. We had been looking elsewhere for TWO YEARS! We knew what we wanted, and finally found it at Pella.

One final thought: I am a very light sleeper, and awaken at the slightest noise. Since the new windows were installed, the house is so quiet, my sleep has improved and I can't thank you enough for that!
