Mike Weber and his family haven’t been able to fully enjoy a portion of their home for some time and can’t even remember the last time the family relaxed on their deck.
Chatting with Mike earlier this week, winner of K.C. Company’s Love Your Ugly Door contest and Virginia native, it’s evident that having a new Pella sliding patio door will make a significant impact on how they enjoy their home and outdoor living space.
Q: What made you decide to enter the contest?
A: We’ve been living in a great house but have been putting up with an optical embarrassment! The door has no handle, but that’s OK because it doesn’t even open! The draft from the door made us feel like we were throwing money right out the door.
The door is just off the dining room which exits to the backyard patio. Because of the bizarre film that has formed between the panes, the lovely Virginia hillside is completely obscured. We keep the shades closed to hide the door.
We’d like to remodel the deck and use it for family entertaining, but right now there is no way to access the deck!
After looking into Pella products and coming across this contest, I knew our door would be the perfect candidate. I encouraged family, friends, and co-workers to vote every single day. The contest ended while the family was on vacation, so it wasn’t until a week later that I found out we were winners! When I received the call that we had won, I was so excited for the fact that we would not only be getting our door replaced but also with a high quality Pella product.
Q: What does having a new Pella door mean to you?
A: Having a new Pella door is going to make a big difference in how we interact with our home. Up until now, we had to avoid using the door, ignoring our shades and opening the shades. The new door is going to increase the quality time with my family at family dinners and throughout the warm weather seasons for years to come. We won’t have to keep the door hidden – we will be able to open the shades and let natural light in while enjoying the view to the outdoors. We can finally use the deck as an outdoor living space, too.
The Weber family will be choosing a Pella sliding patio door and having it installed over the next few weeks.
