Hardware Care & Maintenance FAQ

What is the warranty on my brass door hardware?

The hardware is warranted the same as the product itself. The solid brass hardware used on some Pella® products has a clear protective coating that helps prevent tarnishing. However, the coating can lose its effectiveness due to any of the following:

  • Scraping from rings or house keys during every day use
  • Transferring of paint thinners
  • Lotions or other reactive products from hands
  • Ammonia-based cleaners
  • Salt spray. The result is oxidation (or tarnishing). This tarnishing should not affect the operation of the hardware.

The handle on my unit wiggles a bit. What should I do?

All window and door hardware will need to be periodically inspected and adjusted by the owner to insure smooth operation. Sets screws will need to be tightened, tracks cleaned of debris, and lock strikes may need to be reset to insure hardware is set securely in the correct positions to allow for smooth operation and locking of all integral mechanisms.

It was rather disturbing to wake up to the news of yet another increase in gas prices…now up to almost $4 a gallon!  Thankfully our company participates in telecommuting.
